Surgical Face mask Testing

Surgical masks are a loose-fitting, disposable mask.

It is fluid resistant and designed to protect wearers from large droplets such as blood, splashes, or other hazardous fluids.

Wearer’s mouth and nose will be covered to create a barrier for minimizing the direct transmission of infective agents.Surgical masks are mainly categorized into two types: non-sterile and sterile.

The former is intended for use by patients or other wearers, the latter is intended for use by healthcare professionals in medical settings.

Both types of medical mask are subject to strict regulations in different countries before being made commercially available.

Medical or surgical face masks require a comprehensive set of tests that measure performance by evaluating the material’s resistance to penetration.

Medical face mask performance is regulated by the FDA in USA following ASTM F2100.

Viridian also offers testing to medical face mask standards in Europe (EN 14683), China (GB 32610, GB 19083, and india (BIS 16289).
The following key testing parameters are used for measuring the quality and performance attributes of surgical face masks .
